Why Video is Effective

Capturing your customers attention is more difficult than ever in 2021. The average person is estimated to be exposed to between 6,000 to 10,000 ads every single day. The best way to ensure your story is being heard is to create engaging video content. According to reports, 70% of marketers have found that video creates more conversions than any other type of content.

On that note, it is often said that in order to get customers to buy your product, you must first earn their trust. According to Forbes, 91% of consumers are likely to reward brands for authenticity and share the brand with friends and family, and 62% are likely to purchase from or show greater interest in purchasing from a brand that authentically expresses itself. Creating videos that showcase you or your product allows the customer to get to know you in a more personal and informative way compared to text or still images. This is not to say that text is not effective, (if it were not, I would not be writing this) however, the data shows that video takes user engagement to a whole new level.

In looking at the medium in basic terms, it makes sense that video would capture our attention more than other forms of media, as video most closely resembles how we experience reality in our everyday lives through movement, sounds and colors. Throughout an average day, 90% of the information transmitted to the brain is visual, and this visual stimulus is processed 60,000 times faster than text. One study found that people are 27 times more likely to click on a video compared to a text ad.

Because video tends to engage people and elicit a greater emotional response than other media forms, video is shared 1200% more on social media platforms than text and images combined. Getting your customers to share your content is one of the best ways to grow your online audience and increase your sales.

Video not only increases your social following, it also has a very positive effect on your search engine optimization. Companies using video see 41% more web traffic from search than non-users. Video also drives a 157% increase in organic traffic from search engine results pages.

Now here is where things get really interesting: studies show that viewers retain 95% of a video’s message compared to 10% when reading text. According to Hubspot, 80% of customers remember a video they viewed in the past month. So if you only remember 10% of this blog, remember this: people will remember your videos if you do them well!

As business owners know, the one statistic that really matters when it comes to marketing is return on investment. After watching a video on a product, 64% of customers are more likely to buy it and 90% of customers report that product videos help them make purchasing decisions. According to Forbes, 89% of video marketers also attributes video a better ROI.

While video is the most effective form of digital marketing, it can also be challenging and overwhelming for beginners. At Media Pulse, we love answering questions, so please do not hesitate to reach out if you are struggling to get started on your video content strategy.
