I Want to Tell Your Story

The one thing I truly love about social media marketing is learning about an individual’s or business’ story. Yes, I also love your photos and seeing your products on a pedestal, but for the writer that lives in me, I want to read your descriptions, your hashtags, and the story in your about me. I want to know why you started your business, I want to know what inspires you, and I want to know about, well, you.

I am absolutely fascinated by those who launch their own business. Whether it's a page on Etsy, a hole-in-the-wall boutique, food truck or office space, I think it's commendable and brave to invest in yourself. In observing some of the local businesses in the area, both with and without an online presence, I’ve found that some of you have your storytelling down, while others have not.

“That’s where I come in, I want to tell your story.”

Obviously, you started your business for a reason. Whether it was your passion, a family member, friend, or maybe it was just a big bright lightbulb that lit up inside your brain. Whatever it was, the seed was planted somewhere and grew into the operations you manage today. Maybe you haven’t found a way to put it all into words, and that’s okay! I’m pretty good at gathering up the pieces and making sure your audience is able to both understand your voice, where you come from and what you’re aspiring to be. 

What a lot of people don’t understand is that telling your story is so much bigger than marketing - through business storytelling you’re entering a “corporate Renaissance” that spreads across business, social media, social entrepreneurism, and executive communications. It is your core and ultimately how other businesses and people will know how they can communicate with you.

Like I said, even if you’re not a wordsmith, surely you have a story to tell, even if it isn’t pretty. That’s okay, too! The real, nitty gritty behind your story is what makes you and your business, you. No one wants to read a superficial or corporate-oriented story, they want to know how you tackled the odds and pressed on; The imperfections, the deep, emotional connection is what breathes life into your business.
